On Thursday, April 25, 2013, QVK9 hosted a free leash walking seminar with BarKadelphia to help provide tips and tricks for making leash walking more enjoyable for dogs and their walkers.

Leigh from Opportunity Barks Behavior & Training lent her training expertise and provided some basic leash training techniques to help our pups while maneuvering our city and neighborhood streets.   Instructions including walking backwards and marking stopping points by clicking or saying the word “yes,” turning and walking next to your dog, and getting your dog back on track after a distraction. Featured Dog

This months featured dog is Penny!  Penny is a lovable Black Lab who joins us most days of the week, even if it’s just for a few hours (and we wouldn’t have it any other way)!

There is never a dull moment when Penny is around. Her favorite activities include being outside, zooming around the room full speed, playing tug-o-war and tackling her human companions.

Penny enjoys the company of the other pups and the humans and is always happy to receive belly rubs, head scratches and of course, treats.  Her happy go lucky attitude makes her a great candidate for this month’s featured pup!
